We’re getting ready to pack up once again to hit the road. We have a booking for an 8 day cruise in the Galapagos Islands aboard the Beagle (No, it’s not the same boat Darwin used) in late November! We’re super-excited for this trip – it’s been on our highlight list ever since we left Denver.<\/p>\n

We have a little over two weeks to make it from here to Quito, Ecuador, where we fly to the islands. As usual, we thought that would be lots of time, but when we started looking at all there is to see and do between here and there as usual we suddenly feel like there’s not enough time.<\/p>\n

We’ll be exploring everything from a Salt cathedral to a gold museum, an observatory in the desert, and of course more coffee farms! So much to see and so little time…<\/p>\n

We spent the past couple of weeks doing some more exploring locally and trying to keep the critters out of our house.<\/p>\n

Rebecca is the owner’s pet. She hangs out near our house and talks to us all day.<\/p><\/div>\n

This guy shares our house with us, but doesn’t pay rent.<\/p><\/div>\n

This guy tried to move in, but didn’t last long.<\/p><\/div>\n

We spent a day driving some nearby back roads, going for a couple of hikes and visiting a waterfall.<\/p><\/div>\n

This is the “Paso de Angel,” a very narrow trail along a ridge line.<\/p><\/div>\n

Jen and Quinn make a cute couple under the bougainvillaeas in town.<\/p><\/div>\n

We visited the nearby town of Raquira which is famous for their ceramics<\/p><\/div>\n

It was lots of fun window shopping. They had racks and racks of the black pottery that’s for sale in New Mexico, except here it’s like $5 per dish. Too bad there’s no room in the van…<\/p><\/div>\n
