Multi-legged visitors

We’re getting ready to pack up once again to hit the road. We have a booking for an 8 day cruise in the Galapagos Islands aboard the Beagle (No, it’s not the same boat Darwin used) in late November! We’re super-excited for this trip – it’s been on our highlight list ever since we left Denver.

We have a little over two weeks to make it from here to Quito, Ecuador, where we fly to the islands. As usual, we thought that would be lots of time, but when we started looking at all there is to see and do between here and there as usual we suddenly feel like there’s not enough time.

We’ll be exploring everything from a Salt cathedral to a gold museum, an observatory in the desert, and of course more coffee farms! So much to see and so little time…

We spent the past couple of weeks doing some more exploring locally and trying to keep the critters out of our house.

It was lots of fun window shopping. They had racks and racks of the black pottery that's for sale in New Mexico, except here it's like $5 per dish. Too bad there's no room in the van...

I tried to go for a hike in the nearby Iguaque national park, but eventually got tired of sloshing around in the rain and turned back.

Glad you found it useful! I see that you were recently near the Copper Canyon — we really enjoyed that area and our son absolutely loved the train ride. ¡Buen viaje!

Sooo awesome! The Galapagos are definitely on my short list, too. Shared this blog with my students. They were so excited to see what Quinn was doing. They send him and M & D their best!

    Happy Trails,

    Jennifer

If you have time in Galapagos, the lava tube tunnel is a lot of fun to explore. Kellys’ brother and new wife are going to be in Galapagos in a few weeks too. Would be funny if the times overlapped. Will ask them later when they are out there. They have 6 weeks on continent.
    Stay well intrepids!
    Rupert

    Hi Sparks,
I just caught up with you and loved reading all about the latest adventures. Jen you are doing an amazing job figuring out Quinn’s education. It sounds like a lot more fun than American elementary school.. Best wishes on the next leg. Can’t wait to see pix of the Galapogos.

      Hi Nettie!

Yep, Jen is doing a great job with Quinn. He’s been really happy lately, which is good to see.

Sounds like you guys got out for some early season skiing last week. I’ll be doing my snow dance for you on the equator!
